Re: G.R. 36 A - Compulsory Personal Accident cover under India Motor Tariff.
Insurer's attention is drawn to G.R. 36-A of India Motor Tariff wherein Compulsory PA cover is provided for only one of the vehicles of an Owner - driver even though he owns more than one vehicle.
As the above provision appears to be restrictive for owners having more than one vehicle, it has been decided to allow them to take Compulsory PA cover for owner-driver for all vehicles owned by them subject to the condition that Liability for the owner-driver will apply only in case of the particular vehicle being driven at the time of accident.
Accordingly, the last line of G.R.36 A appearing on page 20 of India Motor Tariff reading "Where the owner driver owns more than one vehicle, compulsory PA cover can be granted for only one vehicle as opted by him/her" stands deleted.
Insurers are requested to take note and advise their operating offices suitably.

Re: Rating of Trailers - under Commercial Vehicles Tariff of India Motor Tariff.
Insurers are aware that Trailers are currently rated under Class (B) and Class (D) of "Tariff for Commercial Vehicles" of India Motor Tariff. In order to avoid the differential rating of Trailers under different sections it has been decided to modify the heading of the table appearing under Section 4 (Class - B) of IMT (Page No.61) and delete/renumber some of the items and N.Bs under Class (B) and Class (D) as under :-

2. Delete Note 2,3 and 5(a) under Section 4B (page 62) and renumber 5(b) as 5(a). The word 'warranties' appearing on the first line (Note 5) to read as 'warranty'.
3. Delete item 4 (Trailers) under Section 4D (page 72).
4. Delete N.B. 2 under Section 4D (page 76).
5. Delete item 9(b) under Section 4D (page 77) and reword Item 9(a)i) to read as "Agricultural Tractors upto 6HP, Hearses and Plane Loader".
Insurers are requested to effect the consequential changes in Item/Note numbers in the respective pages referred to above.
6. Delete the word 'Agricultural' from item 1 of the "List of Miscellaneous and Special Types of vehicles" under Annexure of Section 4D (page 78).
7. Heading of Endorsement IMT - 48 be re-worded as "Agricultural Tractors up to 6HP and other miscellaneous vehicles with trailers attached- extended cover".
Insurers are requested to take note and advise their operating offices suitably.
