Pursuant to the provisions of the Insurance Act, 1938 read with the Insurance Rules, 1939 as amended by Insurance (Amendment) Rules, 2004 and the Tariff Advisory Committee (Election of Members, Meetings, Functions & Miscellaneous) Regulations, 2004, nominations were invited for election of representatives of insurers on Tariff Advisory Committee constituency-wise, vide communication dated 16th November, 2007, and that the Insurers concerned were advised to send in their nomination before 5 P.M. on Thursday, the 29th November, 2007.
Pursuant to the aforesaid communication, nomination papers were received and that the same were scrutinized constituency-wise by the undersigned on the specified time and date, i.e., 11 A.M. on Friday, the 30th November, 2007. The following are the valid nominations received constituency-wise:
I. Nominations in regard to constituency as per Rule 41(1)(a)
1) Shri Bimalendu Chakrabarti CEO The New India Assurance Co. Ltd.
2) Shri M. Ramadoss CEO The Oriental Insurance Co. Ltd.
3) Shri V. Ramasamy CEO National Insurance Co. Ltd.

II. Nominations in regard to constituency as per Rule 41(1)(b)
1) Shri Swaraj Krishnan CEO Bajaj Allianz General Insurance Co. Ltd.
2) Shri Ajay Bimbhet CEO Royal Sundaram Alliance Insurance Co. Ltd.
III. Nomination in regard to constituency as per Rule 41(1)(c)

IV. Nominations in regard to constituency as per Rule 41(1)(d)

Pursuant to Regulation 3(7) of the Regulations as referred to herein above, where the number of candidates nominated by the Insurers in any constituency does not exceed the number of members to be elected from that constituency, the candidates so nominated shall be declared elected by the Election Officer.
Whereas the number of candidates nominated in respect of constituencies falling under the Heads I, II and III above, does not exceed the number of members to be elected from those constituencies, all the nominated candidates, as listed herein above under the Heads I, II and III are hereby declared elected.
Pursuant to Regulation 3(8) of the Regulations as referred to herein above, where the number of candidates nominated by the Insurers exceeds the number of members to be elected from that constituency, an election shall be conducted in the manner provided in the Regulations. As the number of candidates nominated by the Insurers in the constituency falling under the Head IV above exceeded the number of members to be elected from that constituency, election has been conducted in the manner provided in the Regulations. The counting of votes was conducted in the presence of independent scrutineer at the appointed time and date, i.e., at 11.30 A.M. on 26th December, 2007. Only three voting papers have been received and all have been found to be in order. The following is the ranking list of the candidates from the constituency falling under the Head IV above:

Accordingly, candidate at Sl. No. (1), viz., Shri H.M. Deshpande is declared elected from the constituency falling under Rule 41(1)(d) of the Rules referred to herein above.
